Comments:

When looking at profiles with NO comments, I realized I should write something. I taught Math in Cavalier after graduating from UND in 1974 with classmate Don Walter. After 2 years I moved to Wisconsin to teach and afford my wife an opportunity to go back to finish her college degree. I also taught in East Grand Forks for a year. After teaching I worked for B. Dalton, ran a fitness center and worked as a teacher at Aaker's Business College. Since 1983, I have owned and operated a Collectibles store. The flood of 1997 really hit me hard, I was in a store downtown in the City Center Mall-4 feet of dirty water. I re-opened in 1999 in a small space and in 2004 I expanded into a larger space in the Grand Cities Mall (South Forks Plaza, to you old guys). My wife finished her degree and got her Phd and works as a Guidance Counselor in the Grand Forks Public Schools. She provides us with health insurance and a steady income. We just moved to a new Condo in April of 2009 with a heated indoor atrium and pool. My wife calls it "Paradise". We don't need to go to Florida in the winter, we already live in Paradise! I started the ball rolling for the 2010 reunion having a meeting in June of 2009. Red River joined us for the 2nd meeting. We are having fun planning things and hope everyone who attends will have fun as well. We will post updates on the site as time goes on. It is now the end of 2018, hard to believe I created this website 9 years ago. I have just begun to include updates to keep it active, and there is a group on Facebook with a link on the home page. A few (Mostly RR) classmates got together in 2015 as a mini-45th reunion. The Facebook page is for any 1970 Grad, but started by a RR classmate. They didn't want to wait as we have lost some classmates recently. I have recently closed my retail business but still work out of an office, selling online.

School Story:

I sometimes regret not having done more extra curricular activities. I look through my yearbook and see classmates who worked on the yearbook or school paper and wonder Why I didn't do that. I guess having a job throughout my high school years didn't always allow that.
I recall the funniest thing from high school involved Bob Clayburg. He read (Quite loudly) some printing etched inside a drawer in Physics class "Mr Evju is a son-of-a-bitch". Mr Evju walked over and Bob said, "It's what it says here in the drawer". Mr Evju, in his own special way said, "Well, that's what they say, but you know it's not true." I always had a lot of respect for Mr. Evju, after that, but I laugh every time I think of that day.

Do you see/hangout with any classmates?

I see Fred Larson occasionally around Grand Forks, and Don Dubuque is in my service Club, Katie Larson and I went to the same church until she moved to Minneapolis to be close to her kids, Nancy Bjerke still attends that church, I see some other classmates around town when I recognize them, some have changed quite a but.
I did visit Paul Kube on a trip to San Diego, he and his wife had me over for supper.
Many close High School friends, I rarely if ever see, Dennis Sollom is a Doctor in Fargo whom I haven't seen in many years, Andy Lee has dropped off the edge of the world, Brent Porter lives in Denver, but we correspond through email. Jim Murphy and Don Walter have passed away, I am sure there are others I am forgetting.

If you could go back in time, what would you change?

I always wanted to write a book, I guess there is still time!

Thanks for sharing, Pete, we all had "Good and Best" friends growing up, it seems hard to believe they could be gone.

I was looking for the listing for a good childhood friend, Jim Murphy who passed away in 2003, I guess his family moved to Colorado during his senior year and he did not graduate with us. I think of him often. It is our way of keeping their memory alive.

Barry Branvold's has a birthday today.

Happy Birthday, Dean, I didn't realize you were so young, I have been 63 for 3 months!
We had some good times playing Poker at your house back in the day, I still tell the story of the Tupperware Party you sponsored before a Game!
